Dear Parents/Guardians
We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. This Term we have several school events on the calendar including 5/6 Friday Sport, Country Gold, School Photos and Year 10 Exams. All dates will be published in the school newsletter.
Douglas Grubbert was successful in winning the permanent senior school Maths/Science teaching position at Port Dalrymple.
Ms Sarah KuKa has returned from maternity leave and Rachael Richardson returns to the junior school teaching team. Ms KuKa will be replacing Miss Caitlyn Wheaton.
Screening Form
All parents and visitors who are coming into the school for meetings and parent help are required to sign in at the general office and complete the health screening form.
School Pool
The Port Dalrymple School pool will be closed for the remainder of Term 3 - we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Holiday Projects
Over the holiday break we have had the following projects completed.
- bottle refill stations for both the junior and senior school have been installed
- an eating area has been built for the junior students where the box sandpit was
- new windows were placed at the end of the Flinders Campus
- the green court has had the excess water removed and moss
- the Science corridor has had a new storage area built.
Thank you to the School Business Manager, Lorna Clifford for helping to coordinate these projects.
School Photos
School Photos K-12 will be on Monday, 3rd August. Information will be distributed to families soon.
Mid-Year Learning Conversations/Reporting
In 2020 the reporting requirements for schools have changed given the impact of COVID on teaching and learning programs.
Teachers in Kinder to Year 10 in week 10 of Term 2 and week one and two of Term 3 will be contacting parents/guardians to inform them of the child’s progress.
Subjects to Be Reported Against - Mid-Year Learning Conversations
Kindergarten Development Check (KDC) for Kinder students
Literacy and Mathematics for Prep – 6
Mathematics, English, HASS and Science for Years 7-10
Teachers will be phoning parents/guardians to inform them of their child’s progress being Working Towards Standard, At Standard or Above the Standard Expected. Teachers will also provide parents with an indication of how their child has settled back into face to face lessons and their wellbeing.
This is an opportunity for parents to ask questions of teachers and understand what their child needs to do to continue to progress with their learning.

Pre-Kindergarten at Port Dalrymple
Has your child turned 4 or is turning 4 this year? Do you live in the Port Dalrymple School zone?
Our Pre-Kindergarten sessions will be starting on Wednesday of week 3 in Term 3 and we would love to see you and your Pre-Kinder aged child here for some fun learning through play.
Please call us on (03) 6382 0500, text on 0428 308 855 or inbox on the school FaceBook page to chat to Selina Taylor and Halana Knowles if you have any questions.
On behalf of the Port Dalrymple School community we would like to thank South32 and the George Town Council for providing the financial resource that has enabled the school to purchase laptop computers for students.
The initiative will ensure students, primarily in Years 3-9, will have a device for learning which they can take home. It will enable students to stay connected to their learning, to the wider school community and provide opportunities for teachers to support and extend students learning throughout the year.
Families of students in Years 3-9 who do not have a suitable device for learning can ring the general office to loan a school laptop. The general office will complete a loan form for the student and then the device can be collected at any time from Monday – Friday during school hours 9.00am-3.00pm.
This is a wonderful initiative for the families in George Town.
