Principals Report

Thank you to the school community for your understanding and support in regards to Term 2 and student learning.
We will continue to communicate with families using text messaging, the school newsletter, hard copy letters, phone calls and the Port Dalrymple School Face Book page so please check our communication regularly.
If your phone number or address has changed it is most important that you inform the general office so student contact details are accurate.
Parents dropping off and picking up children from school are encouraged to do this in the school car parking areas. If your child needs to be walked to their classroom could you please not enter the classrooms. We ask parents/guardians not to wait outside classrooms or on the benches etc for extended periods of time and ensure social distancing. Thank you for your understanding.
Students again this term will be following hand washing routines on entry and exit to classrooms and where possible adopting social distancing measures.
Year 11 and 12 Students
Students in Years 11 and 12 will continue to work on their Year 11/12 courses in Canvas online in Term 2. Class teachers will be in regular contact with students via email or phone to guide student learning and answer questions. Students can commence work immediately in their subjects.
Students who are studying VET Kitchen Operations will have already received an email from Dan Mohor asking them to access their course work through the following link.

Students in VET Construction with Robert Webb (Bob) can begin completing their work through Canvas.
A letter has been posted home and placed on Face Book with Year 11 and 12 contact details for teachers.
Kinder to Year 10
All of the individual learning packages which have been distributed to students K-10 align to the Australian Curriculum and reflect what would have been taught in Term 2 in a regular face to face classroom.
Port Dalrymple School teachers will contact students regularly in relation to their learning via email, phone call or letters.
If your child needs support with their learning it is most important that you phone or email the teacher.
Resources are available for parents at the public Learning at Home webpage with ideas and activities about what you can do to support learning also. https://www.education.tas.gov.au/learning-at-home/
Students in Year 10 who do not have a suitable device for learning online at home can ring the general office to loan a school laptop. The general office will complete a loan form for the student and then the device can be collected between 9am and 3pm at the school. Please ensure you follow social distancing procedures when you enter the school administration area. As the term progresses Year 10 learning will move to Canvas which students will be supported to use.
A number of students from the lower year levels have requested a laptop and so we are reviewing student learning programs and the student numbers at school to accommodate requests where possible. Further information on the loan of laptops to the lower year levels will be provided as soon as possible.
Please contact the school is you have questions in regards to the information above.
Thank you
Jeanna Bolton
