Animal Town
At the start of Term 2, students in 3-4 were given five picture prompts, from Pobble 365, to write stories about. The learning intentions were for students to gain
confidence in their writing and to create entertaining narratives. The feedback from students has been positive and they have enjoyed being creative with their texts. Below is a story written by Bailey in 3-4 Petty, inspired by the image ‘Animal Town’.
Animal Town
By Bailey
It was the year 2030 when I found out about a story that happened not too long ago, about a man named Phil.
Phil was an Archeologist who was sent into a far away red sand desert to look for ancient fossils. Many days into his journey his Jeep had broken down and had run out of petrol. Phil was running out of food and his water had evaporated because of the desert heat so he had no choice but to start walking and try to find some help.
Two days later a very tired, thirsty and hungry Phil found an old 1970s town named Animal Town. Phil was very shocked to see a Phil-ipping (pun intended) rhino using a phone box and a zebra taking a baby monkey for a walk in a pram.
This town was very noisy and after what he had already seen it was a shock overload and he fainted, moments later he woke up to a llama wearing a surgical mask leaning over him staring. Phil sat up and saw 25 lady llamas wearing nurses’ uniforms ready to take care of him.
Once he was feeling better he set off to explore this strange town. He was even more shocked when he saw a grizzly bear teaching maths to a bunch of young apes. Feeling scared Phil ran as fast as he could into a store that was owned by a cat., only to have witnessed a giant gorilla robbing the store at banana point.
While he was hiding he looked out the window and noticed an old petrol station with an abandoned car parked in the driveway. Once it was safe he ran across the road and looked into the car, his luck had changed because the keys were already in it. He got in and prayed that the car would start. It started eventually and he sped off as fast as he could.
He was almost out of Animal Town when he felt a twitch inside his shirt, he looked down his shirt and a chipmunk popped his head out. Phil swerved the car while screaming and crashed into a giant cactus. With no airbags or safety features in this rickety old car, I am sure you can imagine his fateful end.
The End.
