Cross Country
Students in Kinder to Year 10 had the opportunity to run, jog or walk the school cross country course last week. Thank you to our wonderful Port Sport Leaders who assisted the junior students on the day with encouragement and helping them stay on track. A big thankyou to Mr Sanders our HPE Coordinator and the HPE team for organising the event. Please find attached a cross country report and photos from the day.

Reporting
Mid-Year Learning Conversations/Reporting
In 2020 the reporting requirements for schools have changed given the impact of COVID on teaching and learning programs.
Teachers in Kinder to Year 10 in week 10 of Term 2 and week one and two of Term 3 will be contacting parents/guardians to inform them of the child’s progress.
Subjects to Be Reported Against - Mid-Year Learning Conversations
Kindergarten Development Check (KDC) for Kinder students
Literacy and Mathematics for Prep – 6
Mathematics, English, HASS and Science for Years 7-10
Teachers will be phoning parents/guardians to inform them of their child’s progress being Working Towards Standard, At Standard or Above the Standard Expected. Teachers will also provide parents with an indication of how their child has settled back into face to face lessons and their wellbeing.
This is an opportunity for parents to ask questions of teachers and understand what their child needs to do to continue to progress with their learning.

On Thursday 23rd July, in perfect sunny winter conditions, Port Dalrymple School conducted the 2020 Cross Country ‘Run’. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our usual Cross Country carnival, held mid Term 2 was replaced with a participation focused ‘Run’. This event was a culmination of a school-wide focus on physical activity and exercise during at-home and at-school physical education lesson throughout Term 2. The participation of students throughout the school was pleasing for all involved. In particular, our Primary School students, who had to endure some chilly and wet conditions early, were sensational with their participation, effort and encouragement.
Although participation was the major focus of the day, winners, placegetters and house points were still awarded. There were some exciting finishes to each year’s event, with many finishers collapsing across the finish line with exhaustion. An example of this was Jack Harris’ hard fought victory over 2019 winner Tallis Trudgeon, and Sashyn Tuthill in the Year 9 Boy’s event. With house points awarded from 1st (50 points) down to 10th (5 points), plus a point for every participant, it was Norfolk house who came out victorious over Paterson 3058 points to 2397 points.
These events take a lot of organising so a big thank goes out to Ms Bolton and senior staff for their support of this event and our teaching and support staff who kept the schedule moving on time and provided great support to their students. An extra big thank you must go to our HPE team and our Port Sport Leaders who carried out many duties before, during and after the carnival.

Adam Sanders

After purchasing newly designed netball dresses earlier in 2020, we have now purchased new athletics singlets, with the same design, that students can wear when representing the school during TPSSA and NHSSA athletics carnivals. Although the TPSSA carnival was canceled in Term 1 due to Covid-19, we are very hopeful that the NHSSA athletics carnival will go ahead in Term 4. We look forward to our students representing the school proudly in their new uniforms.
These photos show our Port Sport Leaders proudly modelling the new uniforms.
